10 February 2011, Ha Sekake Clinic, Qacha's Nek District, Lesotho.  Mathuso Kheekhe is 24 years old and pregnant with her second child. She lives in Khomang, across the Senqu river, and to get to the Health Clinic, she has to walk 3 hours and cross the river on a ferry boat. Her husband works in South Africa (she is unsure where exactly) and he sends money home every month to support her and her 4 year old son. UNICEF in partnership with WHO and others, have developed an innovative pack of medicines to prevent Mother-to-child HIV transmission (PMTCT). The Mother-Baby pack contains antiretroviral drugs and a prophylactic antibiotic, cotrimoxazole, neede to prevent transmission of HIV. Health workers in antenatal clinics and delivery care settings, including non-medical workers, will distribute the packs to pregnant women living with HIV.
