She was a stay-at-home mum when she thought of doing something to guarantee some level of financial independence and to set an example for her own children. ..She attended a course in 2005 and in 2006 was appointed as instruction assistant in the cooking class at the vocational centre, in the leafy suburb of Alvalade. ..Having completed only Grade 9, her hopes are that her children will do a lot better...2.Florinda Crispin (26) – pink and purple striped apron..Married, and the mother of 2 girls, 4 & 1 years old, this shy woman hopes to open a small confectionery business when she completes the course..3.Constantina Manuel (36) – Floral Apron ..Constantina got married at the age of 16, when her parents left Luanda to flee the war. Not long after their marriage, her husband suffered what sounds like stroke, and 20 years later he is still partially paralysed...Thrown into the role of primary breadwinner and forced to abandon school, Constantina started work at a small local restaurant, where she still works.  Now the mother of 6 (the oldest of which is 21) wants to improve her skills so that she can demand a higher salary, or even start her own business. ..4.Martha Solange (23) – Apron with apple on..Martha Solange is engaged to the father of her children, and will be getting married in November. She is mother to two daughters, 4 and 1 and is attending the centre to improve the traditional cooking that her mother taught her. ..5.
